Filed under: Uncategorized — urbandumpsterdiver @ 8:53 pm

Found 9 boxes of Nutter Butter brand name cookies.

Super tool with flash light, stainless steel.

1 box of pop tarts

1 container Crescent Biscuits

Fruit cups (sealed)

Brand new outdoor chair cushion (never used)

Didn’t have enough room (had a lot more I could have taken, toys, etc).

We’re going back tonight to get a plethora of carpet remnants.

  1. G’day U.D.D.,
it is beaut to read of the ‘Dynamic duo'[ a la Batman+ Robin] and view the evidence[photos].
It is much more fun+ safer to glean(DD) , in company. The thrill of discovery then, the comparing of harvests.
I , particularly, like to glean toys. I love the joy they may bring. Especially, if I can donate the object to a needy child or a charity organisation.
Have you encountered other ‘Dumpster divers’?
    Thanks, annineorh.

  2. Annie – my boyfriend found some good finds the other night on his way home from work. They threw out 4 dollies (you could use to move heavy objects like furniture or appliances). All of them had at least one broken wheel. I repaired two of them today and the others had to be destroyed, but not entirely.

I did have to throw the wheels away and the wood I’ll use for a fire in his backyard.

I’ve not encountered any dumpster divers since I’ve been in this new state but I did encounter a few in Alabama while I was there working on his other home.

The carpet place has tons of remnants nightly, all brand new. We’re going to go back there this weekend (we’re both too tired from me organizing his house) and him working 50-60 hours a week. We’re going to use the carpet to place in the back of my truck. I have a camper shell on the truck now. So that way if we need to camp out the back of my truck is as least warm, comfortable and possibly make my older truck ride a little quieter.

  3. Glad to see you are posting again, dumpster diving again, and life is looking good. I’ve missed the posts–your finds are always amazing. I don’t find much, and don’t do it at all in the ice and snow we have up north right now, but I feel like I am doing a little secondhand DD when I read your posts. Thanks for them!

  4. G’day U.D.D.,
Thankyou for your news. I, too like to use parts of gleaned goodies to build/craft + barter+ gift to thers. It is so ghastly to consider useable materials/ building supplies/damaged tools being left in ,”landkill” i.e. landfill. I call it ‘creative re-use’.
I glean carpet, too. I use it for door mats. I have a dog and change the mats often.
I harvested ca. 30 new t-shirts + cds from a de-funct rock band. The giant + children’s ones I will donate to a thrift shop(we call them “Op shops”, as in ‘Opportunity shop’, in Australia).
Unfortunately, I rarely glean food or electronics. Your d.diving is impressive.
    Take care.Annieneorh

  5. JNH – you’re most welcome. I’m glad you’re enjoying my blog and my finds. It gives me great pleasure to glean and help others. I find that when I help others, God always rewards me in bigger and better ways.
