Encounter with an Angry Employee

Filed under: Uncategorized — urbandumpsterdiver @ 11:22 pm

The other day my husband and I decided to dive behind a store that’s near the summer cabin we’re staying in. We open up the dumpster and there was a 12 pack box of orange cleanser (spray bottle), 4 bottles of shower gel, a whole box of small screwdriver tools and a flat of salsa.

A woman drives up in a truck and says you’re not supposed to be there. I’m calling the police, that food is expired. The salsa expired in 2014.

So I walked up to her and said what’s the problem (she’s probably an employee of that store) and she said again I’m calling the police. I said please do. I also nicely reminded her that once something is in the trash, it’s public domain.

Not wanting to get into a confrontation with the lady, we left.

We came back later and the rest of the stuff was gone.

We figured it out real quickly. She knew the stuff was back there, was going to come back and get it after her shift was over and we beat her to it. Too bad.

On a side note. I’m all about saving money, all the time.

There is a great website called ytepisodes.com. It’s a compilation of TV shows from YT saved on his site. It’s really neat. You can download the episodes on your hard drive and watch them later on your PC or on your TV by connecting your PC to your TV.

  1. The other day I was telling my hubby about all the alcohol you found and he said the only way that was in the dumpster was an employee must be stealing (in his opinion). I never even thought of that!

  2. Yes, I have my doubts about Alcohol being in a dumpster since it doesn’t expire all that much WHY would they just dump it out for anyone to have free? Sure doesn’t make sense to me.. About the lady you are probably right she is either stealing or wanted that dumpster to be her own PERMANENTLY.. LOL// THANK YOU about that site for tv and movies.. our dish bill was overdue so they cut us off and now we have NOTHING to see. That place is truly a a real FIND!!!! 🙂 I am thorougly enjoying it.

  3. There are lots of angry people not wanting to honor coupons either. It makes me mad. She must be stealing. Good thing you got what you could. Times are very hard right now. There is not much out there. You are lucky to get anything. Many are going without basic needs. Good luck. Sorry that happened to you. Sorry you could not get the other stuff.

  4. 8thday – dear you are probably right. Now there are plenty of times we’ll go diving and we’ll find a case of vodka let’s say and 20 bottles are broken. The 4 that isn’t broken is still in the case. Now for some of the other intact bottles, I’d say the stealing is probably true.

Carol – you are more than welcome about the YT site. It’s chock full of TV shows I love to watch. Since my internet connect is really slow in the remote areas, I download the file to my hard drive or android device and watch it later.

Hey Lisa – I’m almost sure she knew that stuff was in there and decided she’d chase us off. She left in a huff after I told her once something is in the trash, it’s public domain.

  5. LOL. Yeah that happens sometimes. You know how much stuff these people throw away. Probably its best to evac when they want to call the cops. It’s much cheaper than a ticket or some problem.
