Back after a hiatus of travel, extreme flu and just plain feeling poorly. For about 3 weeks I’ve been pretty sick. It’s a combination of flu bug and intestinal parasites. When my husband first told me I had intestinal parasites, I thought he was whacked. After doing some research, I realized he was right. I’m back and about 10 pounds thinner and feeling like a new woman. I’m still a little weak, but the diving itch has come back with a vengeance.

Found tonight’s haul. BBQ briquets, apple juice, children’s clothes (new), bags of peanuts, assorted juices, canned biscuits, brand new razor for cutting men’s hair, bread, potatoes, carrots and lemons.

The reason I think a lot of the food is thrown out is because of high food prices. My neighbor told me because of the huge increase in food prices, her food stamps only last 2 1/2 weeks and she has 3 little ones to feed. You’re going to see a lot more food thrown out as it’s not selling on the shelf. Stores have to supply new inventory and the old gets thrown out if it’s not sold on the clearance aisle.

Thank God she is eligible for WIC in addition. We try and help her as much as we can give her. I still have a ton of freezy pops I found last year in my freezer. Like clockwork when the kids come over to visit, a freezy pop is on the menu.

  1. Perhaps they should plan a garden for springtime.

  2. You know, that’s a good idea. Next time I see her I’ll bring that up. I think the kids would enjoy it and it would save her a ton of money. She has enough land to plant some pecan trees and plenty of space for a garden.

  5. Unbelievable. What a great haul. Do you eat carbohydrates?

  6. I try and only eat the good carbs, like beans, vegetables, rice, potatoes and gluten free pasta. I’ve been slowly eliminating gluten from my diet. I had some gluten free pasta the other day and found no appreciable taste difference.
